You know the
feeling, I know the feeling, we all know the feeling.
The dreaded walk
to the testing center, the stress as you read the first test question, the
anticipation as you wait for your grade to show up. Its midterm week.
So what can you do
to chill out and keep from getting too stressed during midterms?
Choose Happy!
It can be really
easy to get down on yourself when you’re preparing for midterms. But being
positive can help! Instead of thinking "I'm going to completely fail this
test", think "I'll go in and do the best I can." As simple as it
is, changing your mindset can make a big difference!
Balance
Yourself.
It can be easy to
get so wrapped up in studying that you forget about the other things you should
be doing. Keep up with a balanced lifestyle by eating 3 meals a day, getting
enough sleep every night, and getting some exercise in. And don't forget to
make time for social and personal activities. Though it might seem
counterproductive, it will actually help you stay less stressed.
Breathe Deep.
I know, I know, it
sounds cliché. But whether you're on your way to take your test or you've got
the test in front of you, pencil in hand, it can help. Try it out by taking a
deep breath in for 5 seconds, holding that breath for 5 more seconds, and
finally, breathe out for another 5 seconds. Do this as many times as you need
and it just might help you relieve a little bit of stress in the moment!
So, there you go! Try your hand at these things, and maybe the midterm weeks to come won't be quite as stressful!
